50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration!

My Aunt and Uncle Ronnie and Elsie Schilling celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary yesterday. They were married on November 7, 1961. I've never met two people like them. They're always happy, smiling and joking around. Yesterday at the celebration you would have thought it was their wedding day. They were just glowing as if they were newly weds. I'm so glad I was ask to capture these memories for them, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They are a prime example of how a married couple should live as husband and wife. Happy and in love for 50 years and still going strong!!

On October 6, 2011 Chase and Baylee Hiracheta were united in marriage at the Ranch House in Lake Ransom Canyon, Tx. The wedding was outdoors and just beautiful. I was not the photographer but brought my camera along since it was a relative of mine getting married.

Last night November 12, 2011 Chase's older brother Kristopher got married to Lindsey Grizzel. The wedding took place at the Windmill Museum in Lubbock, Tx. The place was unbelieveable and the wedding turned out great. Again, I was not the photographer but had my camera for the same reason I had it at Chase's. They're family! Here are a few of my favorite shots at both weddings.

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to photograph a 10 day old baby boy! Cash is Bryan's cousin's grandbaby! It took two days to get the shoot done. The first day he did not want to cooperate, he swarmed and cried so I decided to come back the next day. He was alot better on the day 2. He slepted most of the time and was so adorable!

Several weeks ago I was ask by a teacher at Lubbock-Cooper High School if I could take her baby bump pictures. The name did not sound familiar so Ididn't have a face with this name. My name and work had gotten to her from another friend that also works at the high school. Thanks Regina! Not having a face with this person made it strange, well on the night of Danielle's open house I came across a pregnant teacher sitting outside of her classroom greeting parents, I noticed the name on the door and decided to stop by and introduce myself as the person I was going to take her pictures in less than a week.

We met at a new neighborhood called The Trails on 92nd and Iola, very pretty place. Leslee and Lance were so cute together and they make such a beautiful couple, they both have the prettiest eyes. I can just imagine what the baby's eyes will look like. I can't wait to meet Mr. Wyatt!

A couple of weeks ago I was asked by Bryan's cousin Michele if I would photograph Adrienne and Matt's wedding( Matt is her son) because their other so call photographer was worried that she would be stared down while taking pictures and this would make her very uncomfortable. She also wanted to take pictures outside 4 hours before the ceremony. Really? In this heat no way!! I had never photographed an indoor wedding but decided to take a shot at it. Bryan assisted me in the event and together we captured manyshots from different angles. These are not your professional photos but good considering the equipment we have. We are slowly saving up for better equipment.

I'm so grateful to God and to my daughter and son in law Janet and Justin for giving me this new bundle of joy Katy Beth Pierce. Katy is my third grandchild, she joins her big brother Cole and big sister Natalie. I stayed with the Pierces' for a week while Janet and Justin adjusted to another baby in the house. I was more than happy to stay back with them to help out. Although I felt sometimes that I was not helping out enough, Cole (4) and Natalie (2) pretty much keep each other entertain, so not much for me to do. I did though kept their laundry and dishes washed and fed them good breakfasts. The other meals were brought in by their wonderful friends: Dawn, Charla and Amy. Let me tell you , these ladies know how to cook. Thanks to all of them we had lots of leftovers so that is why I only took care of breakfast. Katy grew so much before my eyes. She is just so cuddly and beautiful and loves to be held, poor baby she doesn't even know what a bed feels like. ha,ha.

I am missing her so much! Idid bring her big brother and big sister back with me and we are having a blast. I will have them for a week and then drive them back next week. It will be a sad day when I take them back, but just to know that they will be so happy to see their baby sister, mommy and daddy again will be great.

Sneak Peek: Jake and Shelby: Seniors 2011

Jake and Shelby will be graduating from High School this year. Can you tell they're twins? I work with their mom Laura at Cooper North Elementary. Laura asked me awhile back if I could take their Sr. pictures, of course I jumped right at it. They had to have been the cutest siblings ever. Jake showed up only for a few shots and then left....I guess other things were more important than spending an hour of taking pictures.ha,ha.. But he did it for Mom. On the other hand, Shelby stayed longer, we got lots of great pics of her. I over did it like I always do but I couldn't help it, she's such a BEAUTIFUL girl. We started out at the Texas Tech Merket Center and then off to the Canyon Lakes. It was just breath-taking, I think I want to shoot more sessions there this summer. Thank you Jake, Shelby and Laura(Mom) for choosing me to take your Senior pictures. Enjoy!

Cyrus: Littlefield Senior 2011

My photography business is getting out by "word of mouth." Last week I had 3 sessions scheduled, one cancelled out due to the windy and gusty wind. After 3 cancellations with Cyrus because of the nasty West Texas weather I finally got to meet and photograph him yesterday. Cyrus' mom and I spoke on the phone so many times about rescheduling, I felt like I'd known her for a long time before meeting her for the first time yesterday. Luckily, yesterday turned out to be a beautiful day, but the time of the day was not my favorite... but that was the only time they were available so I did the best I could with it being sooo bright and shadows casting over. We met up at The Depot District which turned out to be a great place to get some good shots. Cyrus was alot of fun and full of energy which made the shoot a lot easier. As you can see there's not one bad photo if I say so myself...not because of me but because of the good looking subject I had to work with.

I've been asked by my clients if I have business cards that they can pass along to their friends and families and my answer is always no. So tonight I placed an order of cards and magnets. I cannot wait to get them and hand them out to all of my old clients. It's because of them that I'm where I'm at with something I really love doing --"Capturing Lifetime Memories"

Ross was the easiest and most relaxed person I've ever photographed. As I would look away and then looked towards him he would have and interesting look so I would tell him to FREEZE. We had a lot of fun and may I say, Ross is very photogenic. He could easily be a model for Abercrombie and Fitch or Hollisters.

Spring has sprung and graduations are approaching in full swing. My little photography business is picking up this time of year especially with Spring arriving and college and high school graduations just right around the corner.

Sad News/Spring Break!

I spent the first weekend of Spring Break in Mineral Wells where my folks live. My dad is 85 years old and still gets around quite well. Last week we received news that he had Stage 3 lung cancer. It's so hard for us to believe he has such an illness. Look at the pictures and tell me that this man has cancer. He helped my two brothers over haul an engine. He also rides his moped to run errands. On Friday morning Dad will see Dr. David Close an Oncologist at Joe Arrington Cancer Center for a second opinion. What ever the outcome, I know that we will get through this with God's help. There are many people praying for him already and I ask that you continue to pray for him and for the rest of the family as well.
The rest of the pictures are of my dad and his pride possessions, Cookie, Buster and his Baja Moped and of course ME!! :). I love you Dad!!
The rest of the week as been spent at home doing absolutely nothing, just the way I like it. Yesterday Danielle and I went Prom dress shopping, we had so much fun and yes we found one. We also ran, Danielle ran her 2 miles and I my 5. We are both running in the Big D marathon in April. I will run in the 1/2 and she will run in the 5k. I cannot wait!! Today Bryan and I went shopping for me a new bigger camera bag for me. Now I can take all of my lenses with me where ever I go. I'm up for Senior pics and Easter pics as well. If anyone interested just call me up or Facebook message me. So far it's been a great and restful Spring Break.

Can you believe another year has come and gone? 2010 was a great year for me. As you all know I LOVE to run, this year I ran in 2 half marathons, four 5ks, and a 10k. I'm hoping that the new year will bring be lots of motivation to run in a full marathon. I've been pretty bad the last 3 weeks. I have not run and that is not good. So my New Year's resolution is to start back up again. I can never get behind again. I also picked up a hobby in 2010, I decided to try out photography and loved some of my results. The little clients I had were very satisfied as well. I love seeing the happy faces when they see the results. I hope to continue and to get better with time. I have photographed birthday parties, belly pics, new borns, families and a wedding. If anyone is interested in having some pictures taken just give me a call. I still need practice to get perfect! :)
2011 will be filled with fun and excitement! First of all, I'm expecting my 3rd grandchild the last part of May or early June. Yes, Cole and Natalie will be welcoming either a baby brother or baby sister, Janet will find out on Jan. 14th. We cannot wait!! You know how they say, " You can never have too many shoes?" Well in my eyes and heart, "I can never have too many grandchildren!" I love my grandbabies so much and when they're not around I feel lost. I hope to have many more in the future!! Secondly, Jessica my middle daughter is getting married to Matt Cely in August. If any of you have ever been to a Schwertner wedding then you know we can put on a show. We are so excited for both Jessica and Matt. The wedding plans have begun and are coming along great! The wedding date has been set for August 20th, the wedding dress has been bought, reception building has been rented and now we are looking for a photographer, we have someone in mind and hope to get her. Still lots to do but I know it will all turn out good. Last but not least, my baby girl Daniellie will be a Senior this coming fall. Where has time gone? It seems like just yesterday she was 2 and reading her little books to us. She had those books memorized to the max. She was so cute and still is, well she thinks she is. jk Danielle! I can't believe my babies are all grown up and soon Bryan and I will have an empty nest. What will we do?
Anyway, I hope 2011 will bring in as good a year as 2010 or maybe even better. Every New Year I'm thankful God has given me another one as I do on my birthdays.

San Antonio's 2010 Rock and Roll Marathon

I completed my 3rd half marathon in San Antonio on November 14, 2010. This was my 2nd in San Antonio. The weather was perfect in the low 50s, the sun never peeked through while running, my favorite type of running weather. My goal was to run it in 2:15:00 but I ran it in 2:16:20 instead. I'm very proud of that time. My next goal will be 2:00:00. We'll see. I'm really thinking about running in a full marathon now, but not to sure when. I will post pictures later.
Bryan and I drove down to Austin and stayed with his sister Suzanne. It was so nice seeing her. On Sat. morning we drove to SA. We got there early and were able to check into our room early. We spent the afternoon walking around and taking pictures. The weather was great for all that. We also met up with some of my running buddies at the Spaghetti Warehouse, we even walked there from our hotel(La Quinta Inn & Suites). Never did we get in our car to go places, we walked the whole time were were there.
On Sun. I awoke at 4:45am, showered, dressed and went down stairs to get my toast so I could fix my energy food which consist of a toast with peanut butter and honey. YUM!! We then walked to the corrals at about 6:30am, the corrals were already filling up and the lines to the porta potties were crazy. I did get my turn though, thank goodness. :) And off I went!! I ran
my best time.
That evening we went to eat at the Riverwalk, we found this little restuarant called the The Original Mexican Restuarant. It was wonderul!
We couldn't have asked for a better weekend!!

Running Again!!

In six weeks I will be heading to San Antonio to run in the Rock and Roll 1/2 marathon for the second time. Bryan and I will use this trip as a time alone trip as well. We are very excited about getting way. Then in March I will run in the Dallas Rock and Roll too. Fun times ahead!!

Last Saturday(8/14/10) Bryan and I had the opportunity to photograph Andrew and Kayla's wedding in Spur, Tx. The day was just beautiful but very hot as well. The wedding took place at Kayla's parent's backyard which included a pond. The wedding took place at 7:30pm so we were kind of tight on light but we manage to do the best we could. I'm still learning to use my camera and they do say practice makes perfect!!

Sweet Adeline!

I had the pleasure of photographing my 6 week old great niece Adeline Poppy Schneider this past weekend. Adeline is such an adorable baby and so much fun to watch every move she makes. I was so excited about taking her pictures since I missed taking some newborn ones. With newborn pics you can capture so many different poses, but we managed to get some pretty good shots at this age anyway. She is at an age where she sure moves around a lot and is hard to get some really still shots. She was so much fun though.

I asked a friend of mine if I could practice my photography skills on her and her daughter and luckily she agreed too. I work with Kelly at North Elem. she has a teenage daughter name Aubrey. Aubrey has really grown to be a beautiful young lady. We took these pictures at Tech.

Four Days of Fun with Cole and Natalie!

I drove to Childress on Tuesday evening just in time to go to the library with them for their last Library Reading Program. On Wed. Janet and Justin took some time off to themselves. WE spent the day here at home playing outside. Later that evening we went to Dairy Queen for some ice cream. Then we drove around looking at the Train and various things. On the way home we stopped by the park and swang. On Thurs. I drove them to Mineral Wells to see my folks. We even spent the night. Yesterday on the way back to Childress we stopped by Vernon to see Mimi and Pawpaw. That was a nice break after being on the road for 2 hrs. nonstop. Both traveled so well, thank goodness for the DVD player. Today, we are just waiting on Mommy and Daddy. We may even go to McDonalds for lunch. So far it's been great spending alone time with my grandbabies. I love them so much!!!

The Newest Member of the Family!

Yesterday everyone anxiously awaited on the arrival of the newest member of the Schwertner/Schnieder family. Some of us chatted away by email and text waiting on news to come through. Thank you Amber for keeping us updated. Finally, after about an hr. of emailing, Adeline came into the world. She is one beautiful little girl.

Can you tell that I'm very excited about this little girl? I just had to show her off like I did with her cousin back in July of 08.

A Birthday in Wonderland

On Sat. May 22, 2010 I was invited to take pictures at a birthday party. Jaszmine turned nine. The party's theme was Jaszmine( Alice) in Wonderland. The kids had so much fun. There was face painting and tattoos, yes Danielle and I got ourselves tattooed too. hee. They also had a bouncer, which the kids really enjoyed. The tables were set up with tea cups. The birthday cake was in the shape of the Mad hatter's hat. The whole thing was very neat. Glad I was invited to join in the fun.

My dad, Bonifacio P. Hernandez turned 85 years old on May 14th. Unfortunately, the bad weather kept us from visiting him on his special day, but we will celebrate later this summer. Dad is the greatest dad ever! My sister, brothers and I are very lucky to have him as our dad. Dad is a very caring and understanding man. I hope that one day I can be just like him. Here are a couple of pictures I took of him back in Sept. One of the pictures was way back then. Of course I wasn't around to take that pic. hee.

This blog will now be used for posting my pictures. I'm really enjoying taking pictures outdoors so I will be using this blog to post some of my favorites. I'm not near as close to taking a big photo shoot but hope that one day I will. I'm up for anyone that wants to give me a try. I love photographing newborns and pregnant women. I'm also hoping in getting some Senior pictures under way. If anyone knows of anyone that in willing to let me try it out send them my way.

Cole and Natalie's Visit

Cole and Natalie came to stay with us while Janet and Justin attended the Academy Country Music Awards in Las Vegas. We have had a blast taking care of them. Not one time have they given us any trouble. They are angels!! What have we learned about these two perfect children?
Cole is speaking so much better and in sentences since the last time we saw him which was about 4 weeks ago. One of the funniest things he says is when we asked him, " Do you want mommy to have another baby?" He says, "She already has a baby Natalie." So cute!! Tonight I read the book, The Little Red Hen, I told him it was almost like if I were the only one picking up toys and no one helping me. I said, " I guess if I pick them up all by myself then I'm not going to let you play with them." All of a sudden he got out of bed and came in the living room to pick up toys. It was so funny.
He also love driving the little tractor with his grandpa. Grandpa lets him steer the whole time. I think he'll be driving by the time he's 5.
Natalie is something else. She is also talking quite a bit. She will name all sort of things, she says banana, All Aboard, cookie, dog, no, tractor and the list goes on. She is a good eater and LOVES her baths. She can also blow bubbles. We used up all of great granny's bubbles. Another thing about Natalie is that when I'm carrying her and she wants my attention she says, "Mamaw, Mamaw!" and if I don't answer right a way she puts her hand on my cheek and turns my face towards her. So cute!!
I'm still amazed at how well Janet has them trained when they go to bed. They pray their night night prayers, watching them clasp their hands together is the cutest thing. They also make the sign of the cross. After that we just lay them down and close the door and not a peep out of them. I've been letting them sleep in the same room and it's been going great!
This evening we went to visit great granny because she hadn't seen them at all since they got here on Thursday. Great granny has not been feeling well and did not want the kids around because she didn't want them to get sick, but that didn't stop us from going over there today. The kids were ready to see their granny. She had made a batch of Special K cookies and some of her famous green jello especially for them. She knows how much they love it. We figured a visit from her babies would make her feel better. And it did! She even came outside with them to watch them blow bubbles, swing and play ball.
What a great day and weekend it has been for us. They will leave tomorrow night and I'm not ready to that. But I know they are ready to see their Mommy and Daddy!

2010 5k

Yesterday(04/10/2010)I ran in the CASA of the South Plains speak for the kids 5k run. It benefitted towards helping with Court Appointed Special Advocates. This was my first race since the 1/2 marathon in Dallas. Mentally I was ready but found out that physically I wasn't. I couldn't believe that I was getting winded out. I walked for about 30 or 45 seconds only, just enough to get a good breather. I like running earlier than 9:30am anyway. But all in all, to my surprise I got 1st in my age group with a time 30:33. That'a a 9:51 min mile. I was pretty proud of myself. My first 5k I ran in was last July and I ran it in 38min.
I really enjoy running and I hope to keep it up. I'm really thinking about running in the San Antonio Rock and Roll again. Hopefully with all of my 3 daughters and then I'll think about retiring in the 1/2s. hee.

Our 30th Anniversary!

Bryan and I celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary today. I cannot believe that we have been together for 30 years. It seems like it was yesterday that we met and fell in love. I can still remember the first time I saw him and immediately fell for him. It's funny how you know when you found that one right person. It's something that only you know how it feels. I consider myself very lucky to have Bryan in my life. Together we have grown to be almost the same person. I believe that when you grow that close together you were meant to be. Bryan and I have been very happy together and together we raised 3 beautiful daughters. I thank God everyday for giving me this life. I wouldn't change it a bit. 30 years of nothing but happiness and beautiful memories.

By the way, Danielle our youngest and still at home baked this cake for us, a german chocolate cake. It was delicious!!

Half Marathon #2 Done!!

On Sunday March 14, 2010 I ran in my 2nd half marathon in the Dallas Inaugral Half Marathon. I beat my old PR by 25 minutes. The course was so easy, I think I may run it again next year. My daughters Janet and Jessica ran this marathon as well. We also had cousins from Slaton that ran in it. They were: Clarice Andrews, Renee Yowell, her husband David, and Trina Brumley. They all did great! Most of all, I'm so proud of Clarice. She was the oldest running and that just proves that anyone at any age can do it. Jana, Kori, Leslie and Kami also ran. They are my Cooper friends. You all have inspired me to run. Thank you all for the motivation.

Remember awhile back when I took the maternity pics of my friends Kayla and Andrew? Well, their baby has arrived. Jaxon was born on Feb.28, 2010 weighing 8lbs 20z and 21 1/2 in. In October, Danielle decided to show a pig in FFA. We were a little hesitate about letting show because of all the expense and time it takes to raise a good show pig. But we decided to let her give it a try. Glad we did, we all learned from this great experience.
Little did we know that we would be buying the cutest crossbred pig. The pig was about 11 weeks old when we got him. Danielle decided to name him Sheffie. Sheffie became more of a pet to us, which was a bad mistake on our half. We all learned the responsibilities on what it's like to raise a show pig. We fed him twice a day, weekends, and of course on icy freezing weather when others new better than to get on the roads, but Sheffie still had to be fed. Sheffie grew into a good-looking pig. On Danielle's first show, the Local stock show she won first place in her class. We were so excited for her. Unfortunately we weren't as lucky in the Lubbock County stock show. This past Thursday we show him in the San Angelo Stock show and thought we had a really good chance but unfortunately Sheffie lack something that the judge was wanting. Sheffie was put on the truck weighing about 270 pounds. Yes, Danielle and I cried and cried because our piggy was going to market. hee. Sheffie will be missed! Maybe next year we can show another. We'll see though.

2009 has come and left. 2009 brought us many exciting moments, from Cole getting sick at his 2nd birthday party, Jessica running in her first 1/2 and full marathon, Janet and Justin moving to Childress due to Justin getting his own store with United, Danielle competing in a Walk, Trot, lope Equestrian competition, raising a pig for FFA and receiving her driver's permit, Natalie being the prettiest princess at her 1st birthday party, And as for myself training and running in a 1/2 marathon in San Antonio. And Bryan being my biggest fan and photographer in San Antonio. Oh and how can I forget, The Christmas blizzard that kept us from spending Christmas with Jessica!! Yes, we survived it!! And the number one shocker of all times: The firing of Mike Leach!! What a year!!

May 2010 bring us happiness, good health and success. Hope you all have a great New Year's Eve. Please be careful if you are out and about celebrating this decade. My plans are to stay home and play games with my hubby and daughter.

I'm wearing the same shirt as in 2007. The shorts are different. I haven't worn them since this summer and they are soooo loose.

This was me in 2007 probably at my highest weight at 147-150 lbs. And this is me today 2009 weighing in at about 130. I cannot believe just how much running has made a difference. When I slipped into my shorts I didn't think they were going to stay on. They were so loose around the waist and legs, but especially on my butt. I never want to look like I did in 2007 again. Look at my face and arms. You can actually see a dent on my elbow now and you couldn't then. How funny is that?

I must keep running!!

This Christmas will be a Christmas we'll never forget. We headed out to Childress on Dec. 23 to have Christmas with the Pierces(Justin, Janet, Cole and Natalie). We planned to go on to Plano on the 24th(Christmas Eve) to spend Christmas with Jessica. Unfortunately the weather made a turn for the worse. We stayed an extra night at the Pierces in hopes that the weather would clear up in the morning of Christmas to on to Plano. While there we attended Christmas Eve mass with them and got to see the happy faces of two little ones on Christmas morning. On Christmas afternoon we decided to go to Plano. Stopped to get gas and some lunch at the Allsup's. We left Kimmy our dog in the car and guess what. She locked us out. We did not know what to do. Our smart son in law asked if we had OnStar, in which we do and it worked. Thanks Justin!! The road between Childress and Vernon was clear. We were so excited that we had a great clear road to travel onto Plano. But to our surprise we ran into some ice/snow and very slow moving traffic 8 miles before we got to Iowa Park. Instead of taking only two hours to get to Wichita Falls it to us 6. Highway 287 was so bad that we decided to pull over and stay at a hotel. Our luck kept getting worse. Every restuarant was close on Christmas Day, so we settled for some sandwiches from the Stripes Conveniece store. Funny now but not at the time. So I give you permission to laugh now if you'd like. The Chinese buffet was open but we didn't eat there. If we would have we would have ordered duck. hee.. The next morning we decided to come on back home instead of attempting to travel to Plano. Our hearts were broken that we wouldn't get to see Jessica but we had to think about our safety. We will have Christmas again when we do see Jessica again.
Like I said before this will be a Christmas we will NEVER forget!!

Thanksgiving and on to Christmas.

Thanksgiving was great, got to spend lots of quality time with the family. The girls and I went out on Black Friday and had a blast. This is a tradition we started two years ago and I hope we keep it up. Now that Thanksgiving is over I can concentrate on Christmas. I love this time of year and cannot wait to be with my girls and grandbabies again. This year we will be spending Christmas with Jessica in Plano.. if the weather cooperates.

San Antonio's 2009 Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon

Three little words: I DID IT!!!! I ran in my first 1/2 marathon(13.1 miles) after only training for 7 months. It was in San Antonio, Tx. I finished in 2 hours and 44 min. My daughter Jessica ran in the full marathon(26.1). She finished in 4 hours and 33 min. I never imagined that I would ever run in such a race. I'm glad I did. It was such an amazing experince. I think I'm ready to do another. hee. hee. I will post pictures later.

Texas Tech Road 10k Race, Tech Homecoming and Kid's Visit

Last week was one busy week at Schwertner Country. The kids(Janet, Justin, Cole, Natalie and Jessica and Matt) came down for the Tech homecoming. I ran in the 10k run at Tech on Sat. morning. The temperature was in the 40's, yes it was quite chilly for the first mile, then the long sleeve shirt came off. I ran the whole 10k without stopping or walking and it took me 1:05 to finish. Not bad for an old lady like me. That evening we all attended the Texas Tech/Kansas State game. We tailgated for a little while before with some friends and then headed for the game. It was a great game. Sheffield is something else. Way to go Tech and Sheffield!! Cole had such a great time too. Natalie got to stay with great granny and great aunt Suzanne.

Jessica left on Sunday and Janet and Justin stayed till Wed. and took Bryan back with them. He'll be coming back today or tomorrow. I miss them all already.

Today I ran my 8 miles and did pretty good considering I didn't run all week. I've got to get back to running and following my schedule. The marathon is in less than 4 weeks. I'm getting so excited but I'm ready for it to come and go on the other hand. I would like to run when I want and not have to follow a schedule.

Race for the Cure

Today Danielle and I participated in the Race for the Cure run. Danielle walked the 1 mile walk while I ran the 5k(3.2miles). I cannot believe how many people actually take place in this event. It is all for a good cause. I think there were about 8500 that participated. That is just unbelieveable! I was very proud of my run I didn't even stop or walked once. My time has gotten better. I cut at least 6 min. since my last 5k in July. Not bad for an old lady like me I guess. I"m now really looking for to the Rock N Roll 1/2 marathon in San Antonio in Nov.

Fifteen Years Ago Today

Sweet little Danielle on August 18, 1994

NOWDanielle our youngest of three daughters was born 15 years ago today. Danielle was born on August 18, 1994 at 2:01pm weighing 8lbs 7oz and was 21 1/2 in. Danielle was named after the character Dani on "The Man in the Moon" starring Reese Witherspoon. She was such a joy and still is. She is keeping Bryan and I very busy by either driving her to Athletic training every afternoon or by taking her to her friend's house at a last minute decision.
In one year she will be driving and then we won't have anything else to do. I guess that's we will grow old. Hopefully she will be getting her driving permit within a month. Our little girl has really grown up alot in the last few months. She will be a sophmore this year. It seems like it was just yesterday that I was dropping her off at Preschool(Future Generations).

Danielle was surprised today with a chocolate chip cookie cake at the Athletic training building today. I wanted her to celebrate with her training buddies. According to Danielle they all had a blast and enjoyed the cookie.

Tonight we celebrated her b-day with a home cooked meal(meatloaf, mash potatoes, gravy and green beans) and a pecan pie instead of a b-day cake. I did not have the number 5 to go along with the number 1 so Bryan cut out a 5 and placed it next to the one. Yes, very redneck style. hee. She was all laughs thought and I guess that's what really matters. Pictures of today's birthday to come at a later date.

My Last Day of Summer Break! :(

I cannot believe that today is my last day of Summer break. Tomorrow I will go back to work, I"m excited to see all my co-workers but am stressing about when will I ever find time to run. I will not be able to run before sun up because I live out in the country where it's pitch black at 5 or 6 in the morning and by the time I get home it will start getting dark early, well that really won't start til Oct. but still I prefer to run early when it's cool. Oh well, I'm sure I'll figure something out. I"m so excited but nervous about running in the 1/2 marathon come Nov. I could sure use all the prayers if you have any extra. Please pray that god will give me the strength and courage to finish. Thanks to all of you who have supported me in this. It really has meant alot to me. God bless all of you.

Babysitting Fun!

This past weekend we got to babysit Cole and Natalie while Janet and Justin took a little vacation by themselves. We had so much fun with them. They are a handful and you forget how close you have to keep an eye on them especially little Natalie, but it was lots of fun and we would do it again in a heartbeat. I now know what Janet go through everyday. Or could it be that were just old grandparents.

On Friday we went fishing at a playa lake, there Bryan and Danielle fished while Cole pushed around Natalie's stroller and fed some baby ducks. Natalie and I sat under an umbrella playing with my cell phone.
On Sat. we stayed home and played in the little pool I bought. Natalie just loved it and she also loves playing "If You're Happy and You Know It Clap Your Hands". Cole and Bryan spent lots of time on the little garden tractor. Cole just loves those tractor rides with grandpa.

On Sunday, we went to church and they did great! Thank goodness for the knights of Columbus sitting right behind us, they kept Natalie quiet, she was taken in by there feathery hats. She would just stare and not say a word. Cole on the other hand played with in tractor and trailer and kept to himself. One time his grandpa warned him that if he acted up he would have to take him out and spank him. I doubt that that would have ever happened. We ate lunch at great granny's, and Cole of course could not wait to dig into the green frozen jello. He quickly ask for a bowl. It wa so cute!! Natalie had some mash potatoes and gravy...her favorite and some jello as well. She's such a big girl.

On Sunday evening we saw that mommy and daddy were driving up so I took Cole and Natalie to the door to look out and they saw Justin's pickup pulling up and they both started yelling and screaming Mama, daddy!! It was the funnies thing to watch. They could not wait to get ahold of their mommy and daddy. Natalie did go to Janet which I was so glad she wanted too. All weekend she wanted just me to hold her. If anyone wanted to take her from me she would throw a big fit. She may be just 9 months but is very fiesty.

All in all it was the best weekend with have had with them. Thank you Janet and Justin for trusting us with your babies. You may call on us at anytime.

American Idol and 1st Annual Girls Weekend!!

This past weekend my three girls and I had our 1st annual girls weekend together. We stayed at Jessica's apt. in Plano. First, Danielle and I attended the American Idol concert in Dallas, thanks to my sister in law Melanie for having two extra tickets. The concert was awesome!! Adam Lambert was the hit of the concert. I have a goofy picture of us with a picture of Adam. Hey what can I say, it's okay to act young again isn't it?

After the concert Danielle and I headed to Jessica's apt. where her and Janet waited for us. Janet had flown in that evening was already in bed(Party Pooper). On Friday morning we slept in and had pancakes and bacon for breakfast. We then started our weekend with a pedicure, shopping at the mall, having lunch at Panera(sandwich place). Jessica also showed us a model her new apt. It's a very pretty place. That evening we ate at Taco Diner and I met Jessica's new guy in her life. Matt seems to be a pretty neat guy. The fact that he was very relax and was himself around us made us very comfortable.

On Sat. we went to the 1/2 price bookstore warehouse where I picked up some birthday and thank you cards. The girls bought books. Then we went to Ikea home furnishings. It's wasn't what I expected but it was nice to look around at all the stuff. We also went to Sam Moon but only had about 10 min. to look around because they close at 7pm. How dare they!! I got me a new wallet(zebra print and red). All and all we had a great time together. We will definately have to keep this up every year. I love my girls and am happy that we can spend time together and all get along. Yes, we do have our little differences but that is what keeps our relationship strong. These little differences teach us about one another and how we can become to understand one another better. I love you Janet, Jessica and Danielle. Most of all, thank you god for giving me these wonderful ladies. They are my life!

My First 5k Run

Today I ran my first 5k run in Levelland. They were having their Settlers Day festivities and in all that they had a 5k run. Lisa Reyes a co-worker and her husband Ruben ran it along with me as well. It was a great experience. All the yucky training like Kori puts it is all worth it at the end. I finished the race in 37 min. I was proud of myself. Not bad for a 46 year old lady huh? My friend came in at 38 min. and her husband came in at 30 min. The first pl. runner came in at 16 min. Can you believe it? I could never do that. We didn't stay for the results because it was going to be at 11:30 and we had too many things to do so we don't know what place we all came in. It doesn't matter because all we cared about is that we finished. I"ve been training now for a about 6 weeks and I am hooked. I plan on training more in hopes to run a 1/2 marathon in Nov. So I'll see how it goes. Does anyone want to join me?

This morning I went into town to try out my Ipod running starter kit that I got for my birthday. I set it for a 5k and off I went. I finished it in 35 min. 50 sec. not bad I guess. I can't believe how much easier it is to run in town than where I live. If any of you don't know me, I live out in the country so the senery isn't as pretty. There's just so much more to see in town. Anyway I was so proud of myself for meeting my goal. Can't wait to run again.
Oh, I'm really thinking about registering for the 1/2 marathon in San Antonio in Nov. So any of you that have ever had any doubts about running it's not that bad once you get started. Iwish now I would have started along time ago. I'm running now and hope I can keep it up.

Happy Birthday To Me!!

Today I treated myself to a very nice and relaxing pedicure/manicure. After all I did turn 46 so I think I deserve to spoil myself some. :) Since I've been running my feet have really been hurting so I decided that a pedicure would hit the spot and did it ever. After that Bryan and I went out to eat at Abuelos'. I had the enchilada dinner and a margarita. It was all so yummy. I received an IPod from the girls and Bryan. Bryan also gave me an IPod runners starter kit for my shoes. It is a device that measures distance, calories burnt and how fast you are running. It's just what I needed when I run, now I can just run and it will tell me how far I've gone. I can't wait to get it all set up and start using it. Thank you guys!!

It's been a great b-day so far. It wasn't the same without my baby though. Danielle has been gone for almost 2 weeks. She's been staying with Janet in Childress. I'm starting to miss her a whole bunch. She'll be coming back on Sunday and leaving again on Mon. for a 3 day FFA Area camp in Clarendon, Tx. Poor thing is going to be so exhausted. It's good for all of us to take some time away from each other though. Miss you Daniellie!!

Why Do I Run?

I started running about a month ago. What got me into running? Well after going to Dallas to watch Jessica run in the 1/2 marathon I was impressed by all the runners, old, young and very young. Most of all, my friend Jana inspired me. She's alittle bit younger than I am and she ran and finished the 1/2 along with Jessica and other friends. Jana was the oldest and I was just so proud of her. So I got to thinking if I train or just run at my own pace I can do this as well. And guess what, I'm up to 2 miles. Next week I'm going for 3. I'm not ready for a 1/2 yet, but do want to run in a 5k. I know I'll be ready for one this Fall.

Why do I run? I run because it makes me feel good not only physically but also mentally. Just knowing that you set a goal and actually finish it makes you feel that you can accomplish anything . I also knowthat I'm making my body healthy and that I want to live a healthy life.

WALK, TROT AND LOPE

We had one busy weekend. It first started out with Danielle competing in a walk, trot, lope contest at the Texas Tech Equestrian Center. Her cousin Trina had asked Danielle if she would like to ride her horse in a competition since the girl that was suppose to ride was not going to be available. Danielle decided to give it a try. She trained for two days and considering she only trained for two days she did great. At the competition they ride in circles in the areaa and the judges judge on how well the horse obeys its rider. Danielle did great! The horse was doing just fine until it wanted to out run all the other horses during the loping part. If it wouldn't have been for that I think Danielle would have placed higher. Here are a few pictures. Oh, she also lost her hat while loping.

They came to help celebrate Danielle's confirmation at St. Joseph's church in Slaton. It was great having everyone together again. My grandbabies are just a joy to be with. Cole is getting so big and is starting to talk alot. Natalie just smiles and shows off her two little bottom teeth. She's just adorable.

Danielle decided to leave with Janet and Justin. She will be gone all week. So I guess you can say I will have an empty nest for awhile.

The Beginning of Summer Vacation!

As soon as school was out on Friday I headed to Mineral Wells to visit my parents. I haven't really had a chance to go see them lately. It seems that we've been so busy here lately. I have to confess though, every since my grand babies have been born I have sort of put my parents on the back burner, not that I don't love them ordon't want to see them it's just that my grandchildren are a BIG part of my life now. I remember when my nieces and nephews were born, my parents loved spending time with them. I know they understand that part of being a grandparent. I love my parents and will try my best to see them more often.

While there visiting, I took them to see the great grand kiddos. I met up with Janet, Cole and Natalie in Wichita Falls on Sat. afternoon. Mom and Dad hadn't seen the kids since Natalie was born back in November. I give thanks to my sister Janie for taking them to WF's when Natalie was born, or this might have been the first time they would have seen Natalie.

Cole liked my dad better than he liked my mom, he wouldn't take a picture with her but he would with my dad. It was so funny to see him shake his head "no". Mom didn't mind she had Natalie all to herself then. I'm just so glad that my parents and grandbabies have had a chance to meet each other. Mom is 77 and Dad is 84. Both are still getting around quite well. I'm so lucky to still have them in my life and that they can see me as a grandmother. Dad was lucky enough to have a picture taken with both kids. Mom was not so lucky, maybe next time.

Joe and Dolores

Yesterday we had the honor of attending a church wedding. Our friends Joe and Dolores have been married for 22 years but have not been married through the Catholic church, they wanted to make it better by receiving the sacrament of marriage through the church. They are such wonderful people. Here's one of them at the altar, you can just the love between them.

While there I also took some pictures of Dolores' nephew Austin. He was all dressed in western so I had to beg him to let me take pictures. He finally gave up and let me get a couple of shots of him by a wooden picket fence. I'm hoping to learn how to use my camera better and then maybe this can be something Bryan and I can go into for a second job. Yea right!

Mother's Day Weekend

We spent Mother's Day weekend at Janet and Justin's new home which is just very nice and roomy. We had such a great time there. Jessica met us there as well so we were all together again. On Sat. the girls and I went and had a pedicure done. I wish we would have had our camera with us so we could have taken our picture while being pampered. It was so much fun! I think we need to do that more often. On Sun. Justin and Bryan fixed us women some breakfast and then for lunch Justin grilled for us. Justin's mom and dad joined us for lunch as well. Everything was just perfect.

Yesterday I finally got the car I've been hoping to get, a Chevrolet Traverse. It's a beautiful vehicle. I can finally haul my whole family in it. It seats 8 passengers. Anyway thought I would brag alittle. :) It's silver, grey interior and just beautiful.

In memory of Rudy (Grandpa) Schwertner: We miss you! April 18, 1924-December 3, 2006

Today April 18th would have been my father in law's 85th birthday. Rudy died on Dec. 3, 2006 at the age of 82. In his memory I'm posting about one of our favorite birthdays we spent with him. I"m glad we were here to help celebrate and it's something we will always treasure. I found out one day while I was talking with him that one of his favorite pies was Lemon meringue so I remembered that and bought him one for one of his birthdays. You should have seen the look on his face when I took it out of the bag. He could not wait to dig into it. He was like a child again. We also had a bottle of LLano wine sitting around that needed to be drank, so you can say we had ourselves a happy little celebration. Grandpa was being so silly, he was just so happy, he made silly faces and pretended to be wasted with the wine bottle. So today along with grandma we will celebrate his 85th birthday with another Lemon meringue pie.

We all miss Grandpa so much, wish we could have one more moment with him to hear all his stories and most important his laughter. What a guy!! We love you and miss you!!!

Hail damaged to the passenger side exterior mirror.

Well, my car got hit by West Texas weather. I was at work when it begin raining and hailing pea size hail and as soon as it led up I ran to my car. Once in the car the hail got bigger and stronger. I was on the road on my way to pick Danille up at school when I was being pound with hail. I had no place to pull over and get out of the storm, I kept driving, the faster I drove the louder the hail was heard. I was so scared that I kept a hand over on one side of my face like that was going to protect me. My windshield shattered in two different spot and that is when I started to really get scared. I finally got Danielle and headed home, thank goodness the further we drove south the better the weather. When I got home and looked at my car it looked awful, the hood had dents all over and through out other parts of my car, my passenger side mirror had a hole on the back of it. It was pretty scary. I felt like I was in a war with bullets coming at me and I had no place to hide.

Thomas the Train comes to Lubbock, Tx

On Saturday April 11, 2009 we took Cole to ride on Thomas the Train. We rode on Thomas for about 25 min. It was so much fun watching him smile when the train started to pull away. Cole is a big fan of Thomas. Afterwards we had his picture taken in front of Thomas. It was a rainy day but we didn't let that stop us from seeing and riding on Thomas. I don't know if Bryan or Cole had more fun. Since the first time I've been married to Bryan, this was the first event he attended without complaints. It's amazing what grandchildren can do to you. A BIG thank you to Janet and Justin for letting us have Cole all to ourselves and for letting us treat him to Thomas.

Happy Easter!!

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter. Our Easter was great! The whole family was finally together again. Cole and Natalie woke up to baskets filled with goodies. Our big girls did too. Every Easter I say I'm not going to put out the girls basket but I do anyway. They will always be little to us I guess. We finally got to show them off at Church, it's not that often that we attend mass together since both Janet and Jessica live out of town. Sometimes I wonder just how many people actually think Danielle is an only child. After mass we had lunch an Easter egg hunt with Cole, Janet, Jessica, Justin and Danielle at my mother in law's house I think Danielle found the most eggs again. One day we will have to beat her. I just love my family!! The days we are together are the days I"m the happiest.

THE BIG "D"

Okay, now that I"m rested from visiting the Big "D" I can now blog about the Big "D" Half Marathon that Jessica ran in. Jessica was not the only one we knew that ran. Those running as well were Kelly Thompson, Jana Nafzger, Kori Truby, B.J. Everett, and Kami Thompson. All but Jana attended school with Jessica at Cooper High School. We are so proud of all these women, they did a great job and all met their running goal. Can you imagine running 13.1 miles in 2 hours? Well, Jessica did!! Way to go Jessica!!

Anyway, we had a great time watching the race. We weren't actually able to see them run the course but we were there to see them off and to see them cross that finish line. What an amazing goal to accomplish.

Spring Break Continued

The second half of Spring Break we went to visit our daughter Jessica who lives in Frisco, Tx. When we got there Jessica surprised us with an anniversary cake. It was very good. We had such a great time with her. We went to eat out at places that we don't have here in Lubbock. Jessica took us to eat at Fireside Pies for our 29th wedding anniversary, which is an Italian place, the food there was delicious. We had some pizza and the most amazing salad. We each had a margarita all except for Danielle, she stuck with her Sprite. The next day we went to a burger place called Jake's Burgers, big delicious burgers are served there, the buns are covered with poppy seeds. There fries were good too but not as good as their sweet potatoe fries. YUM!! And yes they do serve drinks as well. We each had a cold beer. Sprite for Danielle again. One day Danielle! Better not! he.he. Last but not least, we ate at Mi Cocina, we sat out on the patio facing a small pond. I just love it there. The food is out of this world. You get the feeling of being in Mexico when you eat there. And their margaritas are GOOD and STRONG too. Whew!!

Besides eating we just hung out site seeing and visiting the famous cupcake place, SPRINKLES! Those cupcakes are really good. We also went to a park where Bryan could take pictures and he got some pretty good one too.

On Friday while Jessica was still at work we visited with a friend of mine that lived in Lubbock up to a year ago. Irma invited us for breakfast, she served us Belgium waffles, eggs, bacon, tortillas and coffee. Everything was delicious! Irma's house is so big and beautiful. Thanks Irma for the invite. We also visited the site of South Fork Ranch where the series DALLAS was shot at, the Ewings with J.R.. Pretty neat place to visit.

On Saturday night at midnight Jessica and Danielle went to buy the movie Twilight and got to meet the Director of the movie. They were really excited about that.

I just got through saying good-bye to my two grandbabies. They were here over the weekend. What a great start to my Spring break week. It would have been better if we could have had them all week. I know that day will come soon enough where we will be begging or I hope they will be begging to stay with us. he.he. Let me tell a little bit about both of them.

Cole is 2 years old and just as handsome as can be and just a joy to be around with. He loves playing with his toy tractors and Grandpa's new choo-choo train. He is saying so many words and understands everything you say to him. He's also a good eater. Every morning I (Grandma) would fix him bacon or sausage, pancakes and even breakfast burritos. He loved all of it!! That's makes me happy that he loves my breakfast. Oh by the way, Cole and I have been up since 5:45am because Grandpa(Bryan) had to go to work this morning. I'm hoping Cole sleeps all the way home. I just love my little boy!!

Natalie is 4.5 months and has to be the most adorable and prettiest little girl in the world. She looks alot like her momma did. When she smiles she wrinkles her cute little nose. She has hair that curls up right above her ears which gives her a cute personality. She also loves to eat. She fusses when the bottle is taken out of her mouth. She makes the funniest squeak when she cries. She loved laying down in the homemade crib her great-grandpa Rudy made some 43 years ago. I hung a mobile above it and she was kept entertained by it. I know great-grandpa Rudy must be proud! Cole used the same little crib when he was born.

Anyway, my two grandbabies are my life and I love them very very much. I already miss them and they haven't been gone an hour yet! Hopefully I will see them in about two weeks when they move into their new home.

Yesterday we attended one of Danielle's good friend's Quincenera celebration. Danielle was one of the court. She looked so beautiful, prettiest one there. he.he. All the girls looked so pretty. Ashley, the Quincenera was glowing. She wore a beautiful light pink ball gown.
After the mass we attended the meal and the dance. We danced to all kinds of music, I think I dance better to the mexican dances.

I had never been to a Quincecera and I was really impress by it.

Today my sweet husband of almost 29 years turned the big 50. We both stayed home from work and just enjoyed each others company by hanging out in town. Actually we've been celebrating his birthday since Sunday, his mom made him and angel food cake, his favorite. Yesterday Danielle made him a yellow cake with chocolate icing, which we had tonight. I will post pics of that cake later.

We gave him a 75-300mm lens for his camera. We are both addicted to taking pictures with our SLR cameras. I'm sure some of you have seen some of his digi pics on channel 11 weather. Maybe one day we'll own a photograhy studio. Yea Right!!

Today was definately a great day, first it was Bryan's birthday and second our Cooper Lady Pirates won their Regional Quarter Final game against Levelland. Bryan tried out his new lens on some of the game.

A Wedding and Valentine's Day!

Bryan and I attended an elderly couple's wedding, well they're in their 60's. What more perfect way to start out Valentine's Day by attending this wedding. The bride is a very dear friend of the family, actually my sister in law's mother. It was a very nice wedding, reception and dance.
That evening Bryan and I stayed at the Embassy Suites where some of the family would be staying as well. It was great hanging out with all of our friends and family there. I definately recommend staying there. They have happy hour from 5:30-7:30pm and the best breakfast you could eat. This is all included with your stay.
Roses, diamonds, and chocolates are all nice to receive on this special day but I think the greatest gift on Valentine's Day is just being with the one you love and having some alone time together. That is what love is all about in my eyes, being together.

This weekend we went to Vernon for Cole's 2nd birthday party. He was so cute wearing his jeans and boots. Everything went great on his day except that he got sick while playing with his toys. Poor baby vomited for hours after that. At first I thought he had eaten too much cake and ice cream but we think it was probably a virus. That little boy is my life, if anything were to happen to him I don't know what I would do. He brings so much joy into our lives. He loved playing with his Thomas the Train train set we got him. I think Grandpa enjoyed it more than he did. :)
Little Natalie is just as cute as can be. She is so laid back and just so happy all the time. I can't believe how big she has gotten, it won't be long and she'll be as big as Cole. She's Janet all over again, I can't believe how much she favors Janet. I will post pictures later.

MY WEEKEND!!

This weekend I went to visit my parents, brothers and sister in Mineral Wells. I got there Friday around 1:00pm. Soon after I arrived my sister, mom and I went to Weatherford for the afternoon. While there we shopped around at antique stores. I found a couple of necklaces at some of the crafts stores. Later that evening we went to eat supper at my brother's house. He had barbecue ribs and chicken, yummy!

On Sat. My sister and I decided to have our picture taken with our mom. We had never had a studio picture taken of all three of us before. The pictures turned so good, I can't wait to get them back. We took a picture of all three of us together, one of our mother by herself and then one of my sister and me together. We had so much fun having our pictures taken. I wish we would have had our dad with us now. Maybe next time we'll do a daughter and father picture.

Today I decided to take a different route home, instead of coming down the same way I went up I decided to go see my grandbabies. How could I have not gone that route? I knew that I would see them in a couple of weeks but to me it was too long to wait. Natalie has changed so much in the last three weeks and Cole has grown at least a couple of inches more. They are both so cute!! I am posting a picture of the three of us. Oh, Janet and Justin were doing okay too. he.he. Thank you for letting me stop by. My weekend was complete once I stopped in to see my babies!

Hopefully this historic day will make people realize that anyone can become president if they apply themselves. It's our own decision to see that we get to where we want to get.

Sorry I haven't blogged in awhile but without my grandchildren around there's nothing to blog about.:) I can't wait to see them again for Cole's 2nd birthday party. Grandpa has really miss having Cole around especially when he sits down to play Wii. Cole was his partner. They were so cute together sitting and playing.

Anyway not much to blog about, so maybe next month will be better since I will have lots of news about Cole's party.

New Year's Day and Frisco, Tx

Happy New Year to all!! Well, we took Cole back home on New Year's Day. We met everyone at Justin's parent's house. Linda of course had food for us to eat and again it was very good. As we arrived Janet and Justin were so happy that they came running towards the pick up to see their little boy. Cole was also excited to see them. We sure miss him though. Natalie was so cute, she was wearing her first pair of jeans. I feel like she grew in last 3 days or so. After we dropped him off we headed to visit Jessica in Frisco. She has the cutest Apt. and has it fixed up really nice. Her dad helped her put up some new black shelves. I can't wait to see how she decortes them. We are so proud of Jessica with all her acomplishments. She is a very smart and intelligent young woman who has alot to offer. Did I mentioned that she is also a very beautiful woman? Jessica we are very proud of you and we love you! Bryan and I have the best daughters anyone could ever have. They have all done well in their lives. Anyway, back to Frisco. We went shopping at Sam Moon. I could have gone broke there, I did buy some jewelry and I can't wait to show it off. :). We also watched the Cotton Bowl while we were there. We watched it at Fox Sports Bar and Grill, very nice place and could be alot of fun if we had Rick and Mel there as well. he.he. So Melanie we must go there sometime together.

Christmas and Cole's Stay

We have been so blessed this Christmas with all the family coming in for the holidays. Remember in my last blog, I wish my family would be with us for Christmas Eve mass. Well, Jessica did surprise me. I hardly recognized her. I saw her staring and smiling at me but I didn't even know it was her. It must have been how she had her hair pulled back. I can't believe I didn't even recognized my own daughter. he.he.

Christmas was alot of fun. Danielle couldn't wait to open presents. We had to open them around 5:30am. so Bryan could open them with us. Poor guy had to be at work at 6:30am. The day went good for him though.

Janet, Justin, Cole and Natalie arrived on the 26th. We opened gifts with them on that day as well. Cole had a blast opening gifts, especially a monster car my dad gave him. He just ran all over the wrapping paper and boxes. He was so funny!! Natalie has to be the prettiest little girl I have ever seen. She is so alert and loves to be laid down to look at everything.

Janet, Justin and Natalie went back on Monday and left Cole with us. We are taking him back on New Year's Day. We have had a blast with him. He is such a good boy. He is also a good eater. Breakfast and supper have to be his favorite meals of the day. Last night we stopped off at Taco Villa and he ate a whole cheese Quesadilla, that's a big boy for me!

Today we are taking him to see the airplanes at the Slaton airport. I can't wait to see his face when he see those big airplanes. Grandpa has taken him around the field to see the cotton modules and tractors. He is a big fan of tractors. While he ate breakfast this morning he watched through the window a tractor plowing out in the field.

Everyday we sit with him to play trucks and tractors on his new little rug I bought to keep here at our house.

Thank you Janet and Justin for letting him stay. His stay has been our greatest gift for Christmas.

Merry Christmas to all and yours!! Tonight we will attend Christmas Eve mass at St. Joseph Catholic church in Slaton. The only thing that would make it better and more special is if I had my other two daughters, son in law and my two most wonderful grand children sitting next to me in church. Jessica will be coming in tomorrow and Janet, Justin and the kids will be arriving on Friday. I can't wait to have my little family with me again. Christmas time is much more fun when you have the whole family together. God has been so good to all of us. I thank him everyday for being a good God and for my WONDERFUL life and family.

Grandma's Tree

Today I helped my mother in law put up her Christmas tree. She has been wanting to put it up for awhile but never could fine the right time. This time of year is so busy for everyone. School/work is so busy that when you get home all you want to do is sit and rest. So today was the perfect day to do so. The tree looks beautiful. It has white crochet angels and snowflakes, red balls, and an assortment of other oranaments. I hadn't seen that tree looks as pretty as it did today. Grandma and I did a great job if you ask me. Danielle's job is to set up the manger. She has help set it up since she was very little. No one puts it up but her. I tried helping her today and she pushed me away. he.he. I will post pictures of the the tree and of Danielle later.

It's Starting to Feel Like Christmas!!

Tonight we attended a christmas program at our church. It was so cute! It's starting to feel like Christmas now. Danielle sang in the choir and did a great job. The little kids were so cute dressed up in their costumes. There were angels, animals, shepards and Mary, Joseph and baby jesus.

Before we headed for church we decided to take a family photo of the three of us. Isn't Danielle just beautiful. I think green is her color.

Two more weeks and I'll be seeing my grandbabies. I can't wait!! If all goes as plan Cole will be staying with us the week after Christmas, we will take him home either on New Year's Eve or on New Years. We are going to have so much fun with him.

A Lot To Be Thankful For!

We spent Thanksgiving Day in Vernon with Janet, Justin, Cole and Natalie. Jessica joined us there as well. We're so blessed to be able to spend the holidays together. Being with my family is the most important thing in my life. I love my family more than you will ever know. I also love how it is growing and for that I am thankful!
On Friday we drove to Wichita Falls for some christmas shopping, a little bit was done not much. Cole is the best little boy at stores. If he grabs something and you tell him to put it back he does it without complaining. What more could you ask for in a little boy like that. I love my Cole!

On Saturday(11/29/08) Natalie was baptized. She was such a good baby, slept through the whole baptism. She looked beautiful in her christening dress, head band and Justin's christening blanket. Afterwards we all met at Justin's parents house for supper. Linda makes the best food! We had brisket, beans, potatoe salad, cole slaw. You name it it was all there.

I'm looking forward to Christmas now.

Well, Danielle and I waited in line to see Twilight. We got at the theater about 7:30pm on Thursday November 20, 2008 to see the midnight release. I came prepared this time, I took a deck of cards, the Twilight book and my camera. At around 9:30pm they let us go into the movie room in which was much more comfortable than the floor. The movie was good, comical at times but I really enjoyed an am ready to see it again. I see why so many girls like Edward. Reminds me somewhat of my own Vampire(my husband) he.he. I know Janet, Jessica and Danielle you are all saying, "Momma yuck!" Ya'll are just jeolous that I have an Edward and ya'll don't.
I"m reading the book again and I can't wait to see the next movie now.

Missing My Grand babies!!

I"ve only been home for 3 hours and I already miss seeing my two little precious grand babies. I spent 4 days with Cole, Natalie and their mommy and daddy. I love spending every minute with all of them. Being a grandparent is the most wonderful feeling in the world.

Watching Cole with Natalie is so amazing! He loves to just sit and watch her. He can also say her name, it's so cute! Natalie's cry is so cute too. She only seems to cry when she has a wet/dirty diaper and when she's hungry.

Yesterday and today we just had to put her hair bows on her. Brown and pink are really her colors. She is just so beautiful! he.he.

I can't wait to see them again for Thanksgiving. We will have to keep up our 3 or 4 week visits like we have been doing with Cole. This has really help him remember us.

We were looking at some of Danielle's pictures as a baby, oh my, does Natalie favor her as a baby. I will have to scan some and add them to the blog later. You will be surprise to see the resemblance in them two.

Well, our granddaughter has finally made her grand entrance. What a miracle to witness! Jessica and I had the opportunity to witness the birth of Natalie. It was incredible to see some one come into the world. God works in mysterious ways. Natalie was born on Nov. 4, 2008(Election Day) at 5:56pm, weighed 8 lbs 3 oz and was 21 1/2 in long.

Natalie is just so beautiful! Her cries are so cute to listen to, she has a little squeak when she cries. And does she have hair, oh my goodness a head full of it.

Big brother is just in love with her, he will hug, kiss and "goody, goody" her feet. I was showing him a picture of her from my phone, he would kiss the phone. It's so cute. He's so little but so smart.

Today Cole and I had Grandma and Grandson Day, we went shopping and then to a mexican restuarant called "Baras" best mexican place to eat in Vernon. I ordered Carne Guisada and he orderd a soft taco, rice and beans. He ate just about all of it. He's such a good eater.

We are now home and he's napping so he will be rested to greet his baby sister as soon as they get home.

GRANDPARENTS AGAIN!

I can't believe that by the time the day is over Bryan and I will be grandparents again, this time to a baby girl. Being a grandparent IS the most wonderful thing in the world. We have so much fun with Cole when we see him, I can't imagine how much more fun it will be with two grandchildren now.

We will be calling everyone to let them know as soon as Natalie is here. We will also be posting pictures as soon as we get back home on Wed. evening.

THE FIRST HALF WAS AMAZING BUT THE SECOND JUST KEPT ME FROM WATCHING THE GAME. I HAD TO LEAVE THE ROOM AND FIND SOMETHING TO DO. I EVEN MISSED THE LAST 2 TOUCHDOWNS BECAUSE I HAD TO PICK UP DANIELLE FROM A PARTY SHE HAD GONE TO. WHEN I LEFT THE HOUSE I WAS SO MAD BECAUSE TEXAS HAD THE BALL AND WE WERE ONLY SIX POINTS AHEAD. I JUST KNEW THE WORST WAS COMING, I HEADED OUT THE DOOR TELLING BRYAN NOT TO CALL ME WHILE I WAS ON THE ROAD. ON MY WAY TO GET DANIELLE I KEPT TALKING TO MYSELF SAYING NEGATIVE THINGS ABOUT HOW TECH WAS PLAYING, THEN I THOUGHT, I CAN'T GIVE UP ON THEM, SO I STARTED WAVING MY GUNS UP WHILE DRIVING. MY CELL PHONE RANG AND IT WAS BRYAN TELLING ME THAT TECH HAD WON, THEN HE SAID "WAIT WE HAVE ONE SECOND LEFT AND THE FANS ARE RUNNING INTO THE FIELD" I WAS SO SCARED THAT THEY WERE GOING TO RUIN IT FOR TECH.

I HATE THESE KIND OF GAMES BUT AM RELIEF THAT TECH CAME THOUGH AFTER ALL. HARRELL AND CRABTREE ARE MY HEROS!!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

MaryAnn, Diane, Michelle and I wore our "Batty" eyes today for halloween. We had so many compliments. We were crazy all day long batting our eyes at everyone that walked in the door.

My grand daughter is due today but I think she will be a Nov. baby instead. I can't wait to hold her.

CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN AND MOW, MOW, MOW!!

Today was CLEAN THE HOUSE AND MOW THE LAWN DAY for me and Bryan. I have no idea how long it's been since I have actually given my house a good cleaning, but today was the day to do that. I cleaned, washed, mopped vaccumed, dusted and even cooked meatloaf and baked a cake and cookies. Whew!! Now I know why my back is hurting. I just figured with Janet having the baby in a couple of weeks or maybe even days I didn't want the house left a total wreck. So Natalie, we're just waiting on you to make the move now!!

Bryan finally got to the yard today and mowed, mowed, mowed, he had been sick and has finally got his strength back enough to do some yard work. Our grass and weeds were starting to cover up our house. No, it wasn't that bad yet, but it did need a mowing pretty bad though. It took him about 3 hours to do front and back because of the grass still being wet from the dew. I've always thought that a good mowing was always like a hair cut, once you get it you feel so refresh and clean. he,he.

And where was Danielle while her parents worked so hard? Poor Danielle was in Dalhart with the Volleyball team. She is a student athletic trainer this year so she has to travel with the team. They have a game or tournament just about every Saturday. I think they are all ready to finish up Volleyball season. I know I would be. Next will be basketball, maybe that won't be so bad, except maybe having to be at school earlier than usual. That I won't mine at all since we have to be at school anyway.

Anyway, that is how we spend our Saturday. Now tomorrow will be another busy day, our church St. Joseph in Slaton is having their Sausage festival and we get to help out. If you've never been I recommend that you go and eat some of the best tasting german food you will ever eat. It starts at 11:00am at the St. Joseph Hall. Hope to see you there!

Visit to Vernon and the Pumpkin Patch!

We spent the weekend in Vernon visiting Janet, Justin and Cole. We just had to see Janet pregnant one last time before she delivers Natalie. Justin had to work the whole weekend and wasn't feeling well as well. On Sat. after helping Janet clean house and washing baby clothes. we decided to take Cole to the pumpkin patch in Chilichothe. We took many pictures of Cole in the pumpkins and on a wagon. He did not want to sit still most of the time. He wanted to run around and look at all the different kinds of pumpkins. His favorite part was finding pecans and putting them in a red wagon with pumpkins in it. He was so cute!!

On Sun, we finished getting Natalie's room ready for her arrival. All they have to do now is hang her name above the crib. Janet and Justin have done a great job putting the nursery together. Janet did not have a real shower, instead she had a "Baby shower by Mail", so far it's turned out pretty neat. She has been receiving gifts though the mail every so often. I thought that was a pretty good idea to do for her. That little girl has more clothes than any other baby I know and she's not even here yet. Thank to all of you who participated.

ONE DOWN FIVE TO GO!!

I cannot believe that the 1st six weeks of school have come and gone! So one down five more to go til summer. he.he. I'm really enjoying my new position at work as counselor's assistant. The ladies in the office are so much fun to be with day by day. They are always laughing, joking and even singing. I believe this is what's making the year go by so fast. I'm glad I'm in the position I'm in and I'm very lucky to work with such great people, they're like family.

My husband Bryan loves to take pictures of our sunsets and sunrises. I'm sure you have at one time or another seen his digipics on News channel 11 weather news. Ever since he got his new SLR Sony he love taking pictures of all different things, whether it sunrises, sunsets, little creatures, flowers, grandkids, kids, pets or even of his wife(me). I keep telling him he needs to concentrate on people so when he retires he can become a professional photographer. I would like to share some of his pictures with you. I thinks he's pretty good at it.

RAIN DAY?

When it rains it pours!! Can you believe school was canceled today 09/12/08 due to the rain. It rained an rained all day yesterday. I think the only time it let up was when the kids were dismissed at the end of the day. Once they were all gone it started raining again. I don't mean a slow rain, oh no, it poured. The gutters at school were running so fast that if you were to stand in front of them you would have been washed a block away. So far, as of this morning we have received about 9 inches of rain . I can hear it coming down at this moment. I guess we will have to have Rain Days instead of Snow Days now. he.he.

And where was Danielle during this rain storm? Well, since I'm the very nice and loveable mother I am, I let her stay for the Freshmen and J.V. football games. Oh yes, they decided to let the games go on even though it was raining. At about 7:30pm. I decided to call her to see how everything was going, I got no response after a couple of tries. Finally she calls back to let me know she was okay and that she was on the field helping out the other Trainers. Her dad and I decided to go on and wait on her, on our way there she called us to say that the J.V. game had been called. When we finally got to the training facility building all we could see was a girl drenched with wet clothes. She had mascra running from her eyes, it looked like she had been crying black tears. I wish I would have taken a picture. She looked like a little wet rat. he.he. She said, that was the most fun she had had in a long time. Kids I tell you!!!

I will be enjoying my day off catching up with my house work and finally getting to watch Little House on the Praire, my favorite T.V. show.

Why?

Why? Why has been a word used so many times in the last day or so. We at Cooper ISD have recently(09/02/08) loss a student in a terrible car accident. Kelsey was 18 years old and was the daughter of one of our teachers here at Cooper North. We can only imagine what this family is going through. Our thoughts and prayers are with them all. God works in mysterious ways and in ways that leave all of us sometimes asking "Why?" I know we shouldn't ask why but it's only human that we do. Kelsey was a beautiful person inside and out. I know she will be missed dearly, but she has left all of us who knew her well a life-time of memories. Those memories will live forever in our mind and heart.

Please keep Kelsey and her family in your prayers!

Well, it's that time of year again to put away our pool. We didn't use it as much as we should have but it was there when we needed to cool off on hot summer days. This was our third summer to use it. Every year I say that I'm not setting it up but I do anyway. It's easy to set up but a pain to take down. Danielle really had a good time in it, always wanting to dunk me, but I wouldn't let her. Now on the other hand, when her dad got in she got dunked many times. As you can see from my expression(not a good picture) I'm trying not to get dunked by Danielle. She has more fun with other people in the pool than with me. I'm a chicken with it comes to dunking. he.he.

I can't believe my baby has turned 14 years old. It's seems like it was just yesterday that she came into our lives and here she is 14 and entering high school, it doesn't seem possible. Danielle Elizabeth Schwertner expected date was August 17, 1994 but decided to join us on August 18 instead. She was born at 2:01pm and weighed 8lbs 7oz and was 21.5 in long. Oh yes, I felt every bit of her and no I did not have any medication to have her. Well maybe some demerol during labor. I would rather have the pain than having a long old needle stuck to my back. Anyway, I just wanted to share this special date with all of you.

We took Danielle out to a movie yesterday(Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2) and out to eat tonight to her favorite place Olive Garden. We also surprised her with her own cell phone(LG Scoop) and plan, probably a bad mistake but oh well live and learn. he.he.

Summer's Last Blast!

Summer's last blast takes place in Vernon, Tx every August right before school begins. It's a car show of old cars 25 years and older. The main drag is close for 3 hours and these cars are the only ones allow to cruise up and down the main street. It's so neat to see all different models of cars. In the mean time we as spectators are on the side of the road sitting back and cooking out and visiting with family and friends. Cole on the other hand played in his little blow up swimming pool and kept cool while the rest of us baked. We were lucky enough to have two big shade trees on both side of us though. After the cruise anyone is welcome to cruise along with them which is alot of fun too. Bryan and I cruised with Justin's parents in there Jeep to about 1:30 in the morning, yes Janet and Justin had to leave the door unlock for us to come in. That was just alittle payback of all the years WE had to leave the door unlock for them to come in at all wee hours of the night. he.he.

I can't believe Summer is just about over, it seems like it was just yesterday that we were saying goodbye to our students for the summer.

I started back to work today which was nice because I got to see alot of the teachers that I get along so well with and enjoy their company. Work can be so much fun if you get along with your co-workers, I'm so lucky to work in such a great place like Lubbock-Cooper North Elementary. We are all treated with a big breakfast at the beginning of the school year, the whole district is at this breakfast, that's what make it so much fun, you get to know everyone. And at the end of the year we are treated with a luncheon as well. Cooper ISD is the place to be!!
